Best Practices in Urologic Care for the Allied Health Team

The purpose of this program is to educate the urologic APN/PA through the review of AUA guidelines, including tips from experienced practitioners. This program will be mainly didactic presentations. Audience interaction will be included in some of the lectures using an audience response system (ARS). Topics to be addressed include abnormal and normal radiology exams in urology. We will also review the current AUA guidelines for hematuria. The management of male sexual health including current advancements and treatments will be discussed. We will also discuss the management of stone disease, overactive bladder, and prostate cancer. We will conclude the days program with a current update of urology coding.

Objectives: After attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Review the new and most current AUA guidelines
  • Identify the most frequent radiologic findings seen in Urology
  • Describe the coding used in Urology as it pertains to the PA/ANP
  • Evaluate and manage problems pertaining to male sexual health
  • Recognize and initiate treatment for overactive bladder
  • Discuss the management of Nephrolithiasis
